All employees, agents and authorized service providers of Second Harvest are individually required to safeguard each individual Donor’s personal information. Every reasonable precaution shall be taken to protect and preserve the confidentiality of our Donors’ personal information. ![]() Each department of Second Harvest shall establish, maintain, and revise practices and procedures to ensure compliance with this Policy. Second Harvest and its employees are responsible for all Donor personal information in our possession. Due to the sensitive nature of personal information disclosed by a Donor or obtained by Second Harvest, Second Harvest shall at all times abide by this Policy. Information is the key to any relationship. In order to be successful during a campaign, strong donor relationships must be established and cultivated. It is vital for Second Harvest to have knowledge about its supporters and those people who provide the necessary funding. For purposes of this policy, “Employee” describes both paid and volunteer workers for Second Harvest. “Donor” refers to any individual or organization that contributes funds, securities or property to Second Harvest. It does not include publicly obtainable information such as names, addresses and telephone numbers. In this Policy, “personal information” means information that is recorded in any form, both fact and opinion and that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual. This policy will help ensure that all personal information is properly collected, used only for the purposes for which it is collected, and is irretrievably disposed of in a secure and timely manner when it is no longer needed. We value our donors’ trust and we recognize that maintaining this trust requires us to be transparent and accountable to our supporters and the public at all times. Our donors expect that we will use their support and personal information wisely. Second Harvest Community Food Bank is committed to protecting our donors’ privacy. These include businesses, service clubs, church organizations and community groups who are helping us fill gaps and meet needs year-round. Our Mission Partners are also part of this work to build hunger-free communities. Our Partner Agencies are spread across our 19-county service area, and include meal programs, shelters, religious groups and a variety of other organizations. Our volunteers provide a critical resource, donating hundreds of hours of time to support our efforts to fight hunger in our communities. We rely on a vast network of Partner Agencies in addition to the direct programs we offer at our campus and at various locations. Many of our Members live week-to-week, skipping meals or rationing them to a level where nutrition suffers, and the relentless stress of food insecurity takes a critical toll. Some have come to the end of cash reserves after an unexpected job loss others have faced unplanned circumstances at home, such as chronic illness or the loss of a spouse. Many parents of young children who reach out to us for help are working but are unable to provide enough nutritious food to meet their growing children’s needs. Each week, we connect with individuals who are battling with hunger and nutrition and its impacts.
